Standby April!
TambayTimes Kids, Various spaces
Brujas was a travelling performance under TambayTimes Kids' annual summer excursions Standby April! The brujas on the run performed in Kwago Bookshop, UP Manila Museum of a History of Ideas, Kanto Gallery, Ateneo Art Gallery, Bantayog ng mga Bayani Museum, UP Vargas Museum, Project 20 Gallery, Ishmael Bernal Gallery-UP Film Center, and Catch 272.
Brujas is a text loosely based on Isabelo de los Reyes' El diablo, which was a satirical jab at the superstitions of foreign Catholic religion during Spanish colonial times. De los Reyes' text mentions two famous brujas chronicled by the frailes, namely Tapar and Fulangan, here played by Ekis Gimenez and Opaline Santos. Jzar Tabilin played the lumpen India, while Cy Zinampan/Mark Daniel Dalacat played the very agitated techno-pagan Sabino. It was Sabino who gathered the coven together having apparently found a spell to end the bloodshed in a war-torn city where the play is set. With the relative distance of the venues from each other, Metro Manila became the stage itself for Brujas.
