Queer Frequency No. 1  |  2020

Minor Infelicities, Post Territory Ujeongguk

Seoul, South Korea

"Queer Frequency No. 1" is QF1's Seoul iteration. Together with Isaac Chong Wai's "Disguised Camouflage", we opened Minor Infelicities, a group show featuring works from queer artists around Southeast Asia region. We were among Isola Tong, Jang-won Choi, Kim Dujin, and Norah Leah. The show's curatorial team included Abhijan Toto, Carlos Quijon, Jr., Jens Cheung, and Wong Bong Hao. Readers were Haryung Lee and Stefan Gosiewski, together with bela. Sebin Park translated parts of the text into Korean.

TambayTimes Kids,  Talisay Gathering House

Anonas, Quezon City

Queer Frequency 1 was first read and recorded in a gathering house in Anonas, Quezon City. The text comes from "Mga piratang brodkast ni Alias Clotho", a group of documents sent from the future by a queer dissident on the run known only as Clotho. In that future, all queers would have been wiped out, save from a few who wait for Clotho's pirate broadcasts. The Talisay iteration of QF1 was read by Jzar Tabilin and Cy Zinampan, and in the tradition of live analogue radio broadcast, accompanied by the digital sounds of mocksmile.
