Huni & Pakpak is Luna Sicat-Cleto's adaptation of Macario Pineda's 1950s utopian novel Ginto sa Makiling. Here, Luna and I de-stress the trope of the languishing woman. While her text is in the form of stream-of-consciousness, my staging takes on the form of a fever adventure dream. We envision not only woman's emancipation, but turn to queer emancipation as well. Sanang's countenance (Opaline Santos) comes in the form of a queer Mariang Makiling (Jzar Tabilin).
